The 2018 IIHF World Championship will be hosted by Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark, as the IIHF announced on 23 May 2014. South Korea will make its debut at the World Championship, having played in the lower divisions previously.

The official mascot of the tournament is a duck inspired by the Danish writer and poet Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale about The Ugly Duckling.
